Dejan Lovren

Dejan Lovren is a Croatian soccer player who was born July 5th, 1989 in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He currently plays for Olympqiue Lyonnais, and is also a member of the Croatian national team. Starting his career, Dejan Lovren played in the youth teams of NK Karlovac. In 2004 he became a part of the top flight club Dinamo Zagreb. He debuted for the senior squad of Dinamo on June 10th, 2006, in a Prva HNL match that was against Inter Zapresic. For two seasons Dejan Lovren was loaned to the Zapresic club, where he played in 50 league matches and scored a goal against NK Osijek, in which Inter lost 2-1. This was on May 10th, in 2008.

When he returned from the loan, he played in NK Dinmao’s first eleven league qualifiers, which were against Pyunik Yerevan and Red Bull Salzburg, and he scored a close range header against Pyunik.

Dejan Lovren signed a four and a half year contract, in January 2010 with Olympique Lyonnais, a French Ligue 1 club. At the club he was given the number 26, and made his competitive debut on January 24th, 2010. They went on to lose 2-1 in the Coupe de France, at Monaco. On the 31st of January in 2010, Dejan Lovren had his Ligue 1 debut, in which Lyon won the home game 2-1, against Paris Saint-Germain . He played the entire game.

Manager of the Croatia national team, Slaven Bilic, called Dejan Lovren up first and included him in his match squad, which was to play against Belarus on August 12th . Though never used as a substitute, he was still happy with his new experience. Dejan Lovren was capped 48 times in various Croatia youth national teams, and also scored 4 goals.

Some of Dejan Lovren’s accomplishments include the Croatian championships of 2005-2006 and 2008-2009, as well as the Croatian Cup in 2009 while playing for Dinamo Zagreb. He also helped to win 2 HNL champions in the 2006-2007 season.
